Consequently, many end up in emergency rooms, ICUs and unfortunately some loss life. Aware of the underlying challenges and the plight many of these immigrant communities are faced with Naomi purposed to do something about it. The genesis of LAFPRA predates this Acworth medical facility to a couple of years back in Marietta where Dr. Naomi and Dr. Harry Watkins had initially launched Hillcrest Medical Clinic a non-profit organization and community health program. This medical outreach was accommodated within the Kenyan American Community Church (KACC) facility where at the time saw patients in a single office space behind the sanctuary where patients would be seen every Sunday afternoon.

LAFPRA is committed to delivering excellent medical care that is affordable. For the past 5 years, the clinic has revolved around an affordable self-pay model that basically focuses on the uninsured, underinsured, or even insured folks that have high deductibles premiums but are seeking to save and minimize theirs out of pocket medical insurance costs.

As a primary care wellness center, the clinic sees patients of all ages and conditions. The clinic prides itself on having flexible scheduling hours including after-hours appointments. Generally, one can be seen on the same day you call or as a walk-in.

The clinic is scaling up its operations into a hybrid model (Insurance & Self-pay). Beginning Sept 1st, 2020 LAFPRA will be accepting all major US medical insurances covers in addition to also taking Medicaid and Medicare that cater to the children, youth & the elderly. The Clinic is equally excited that Dr. Ade Adewunmi a remarkable medical professional will be part of the group on a more regular basis as the clinic repositions to be the preferred personal, family, and community healthcare partner and the go-to clinic when medical concerns arise. The clinic remains committed to being easily accessible and always ready to help folks who have health or medical-related questions including those seeking medical opinions not only here in the states but also for the loved ones overseas.

Desmond Tutu once said, “do a little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits put together that overwhelm the world” and indeed Dr. Naomi Kanyari and the team of providers at LA are doing their little bit of good that is changing our community by bringing medical services closer to all of us.
